Profile
Software engineer focused on building things that are fast, easy to use, and reliably available — web engineering, performant Java services, and accessibility, with platform engineering, DevOps and systems languages (Rust, Zig, Go) picked up alongside. A few years (2015–2018) were spent on mobile. Writing about what I'm learning, in public.
Core competencies
- Web engineering current focus
- Front-ends and services built to be fast, easy to use, and reliably available — not just functionally correct.
- Java & performance current focus
- Building applications on the JVM engineered to stay fast and stay up under real load.
- Accessibility current focus
- Making interfaces that work as well by keyboard and screen reader as they do by mouse — not just passing an automated check.
- Platform & DevOps learning in public
- CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability — the practices that keep something fast and working from quietly stopping being either.
- Systems languages learning in public
- Rust, Zig and Go — going a level lower than the web stack to understand what it's built on top of.
- Mobile 2015–2018
- Native and cross-platform applications, with the usual trade-offs around offline state, background work and release cadence.
Experience
12 years building fast, usable, reliably available software — web engineering, Java, accessibility and platform work, with a few years (2015–2018) on mobile. A detailed role history is available on request — or take the writing and the projects as the working sample.
